The program is part of the Victorian Government’s drought response package and is being managed by the Mallee Catchment Management Authority (CMA). Similar programs are also being offered by Wimmera and North Central CMAs. 

This program will employ drought affected people with direct links to primary production to undertake a range of environmental works, building on existing programs and completing high-priority activities for public benefit, such as:

  • Weed and rabbit control works;
  • Watering revegetation sites;
  • Fencing;
  • GPS mapping of weeds;
  • On-ground works including track rationalisation, rubbish removal, access improvements etc.

Work will be provided up to three to five days per week to allow participants to continue important on-farm works. Participants will also gain skills and knowledge through completion of relevant training.
